Home Education mentoring for families choosing to learn without school.

Alice walking in the hills

Everything begins in imagination …

I’m Alice Khimasia — TEDx speaker (Watch: Unschooling) and mother of four boys. I have been home educating organically, without using any set curriculum, since 2010. I offer one-to-one consultations and mentoring for families exploring this path, as part of the team at Streams Education.

Are you imagining a different kind of childhood, a different kind of education?

Welcome to my quiet corner of the Internet, for those seeking alternative pathways.

I’m an unschooler, a mentor, writer, speaker, and reluctant radical. My four boys have grown up learning from the world around us, from each other, and from everything we’ve encountered in life and community along the way.

Since 2010, our family has lived as if school doesn’t exist. I’ve spoken at conferences, given a TEDx talk, appeared in The Guardian, The Times, the i, and on the BBC, and completed a Masters in Childhood in Society at the University of Warwick, where my research centred the voices of children who have never been to school.

I left social media, and haven’t looked back. I used to write at Organic Education but after Facebook disabled my account, I walked away from the Metaverse. This site has become the place where you can read about our journey, find out what I’m up to, and get in touch if you’d like to talk. I’d love to hear from you!

Be inspired. Trust your gut. Learning is lifelong, learner-driven, and needs to be fit for the 21st century, and for your unique child. Children are naturally curious. They can and do learn, flourish and thrive without schooling.

“What we want to see is the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child.”
— George Bernard Shaw
